The ARGES Submersible Brush unit by Keynes Controls is an stand-alone intelligent device designed to clean submerged optics. In its present configuration it is used to clean the ARGES Fluorometer sensors. The brush unit is activated using the industry standard SDI12 commands and so can be operated like any other intelligent sensor.
The ARGES Brush unit can be fitted into any port within the multi-parameter housings. The angle of rotation is User assigned. The device can be set to do 360 degrees for a multi-parameter housing containing 6 fluorometers, or simply 30 degrees of rotation when cleaning a single sensor in a 3 port housing.
The ARGES brush unit can be used with third party instrument packages that support SDI12, RS485 digital communications. Other communication protocols can be supplied.
This product can be customised upon request. Contact Keynes Controls for details.

Brush Control
The ARGES Brush unit operates like any other of the ARGES range of products with the exception that it does not take any measurements. The industry standard aM! SDI12 command is used to start a scan, The range of the brush unit angular movement can be assigned by the User, so for multi-parameter package with 6 flourometers will require a 360 Deg movement, while a single fluorometer solution may only require 60 degrees of movement.
The ARGES brush unit can be fitted into any of the Keynes Multi-parameter housings being used to take measurements with any of the ARGES Fluorometer sensors. The angular movement of the brush can be defined by the User.
The ARGES Submersible Brush Unit by Keynes Controls is fully integrated into the QLOG software but unlike any other of the ARGES sensor range, it does not make any measurements. Its purpose is simply to clean the fluorometer optics.

Installation
The ARGES Submersible Brush Unit by Keynes Controls can be installed into any port in the SONDE housing base unit, A securing plastic washer is attached to the connector screw thread and locked into position. The image below shows the brush unit fastened to the base unit.
The securing washer prevents the sensors from being removed or coming loose during submerged operations.
Operations
For long term applications where any of the ARGES fluorometer sensors are being used then a submersible brush unit should be used to clean the sensor optics before a measurement is taken. Any contamination of the optics due to debris in the water source can affect the results. The image above shows the the ARGES Brush unit installed with a Turbidity sensor and a ARGES Conductivity sensor. The brush unit can be instructed to clean only the fluorometers and will not touch the single ion sensors.
When the brush unit is used in the Multi-parameter SONDE then it is not possible to take a fluorometer measurement when the brush unit is in use.

Built-in Communication Options
The ARGES Submersible Brush unit by Keynes Controls supports SDI-12, RS485 and MODBUS digital communications as standard, enabling the sensors to be directly connected to Data Logger for remote web based reporting, onto Wi-Fi and Local Area Networks using the RS485 option, and directly into SCADA applications using the MODBUS.
WARNING:
Favourable measurements made by this equipment do not guarantee that a water sample is safe for human or animal consumption. The ARGES Intelligent Submersible Fluorometer sensors can not detect the presence of harmful bacteria or toxins. If in doubt, ALWAYS TREAT SUSPECT WATER PRIOR TO CONSUMPTION.
