Description of the component parts of the instrument
MUX-16/32 Expansion for the VibWire-301
The VibWire-301 can be expanded to operate using the MUX-16/32 expansion unit and offers the lowest cost solution for multiple channel vibrating wire sensor monitoring applications. The MUX-16/32 expansion unit offers 15 x 4 wire and 32 x 2 wire mode of operation.
When using the MUX-16/32 expansion unit with the VibWire-301 to increase the number of vibrating wire sensor channels from 1 to 16 then the output signals originating from the sensors are passed in turn to the instrument for measurement. As each sensor is scanned the channel indicator shown below increments automatically,
Analogue Output Ports
4-20 mA Current Loop Operations
The VibWire-301 supports two individually isolated 4-20 mA loop outputs that can be configured to represent the Frequency and temperature signal components of the sensor.
A precision 100 Ohm sense resistor is used to convert the loop signal to a voltage that can be measured by an analogue data acquisition system.
The sensor output signal can be configured to represent Hz, Digits or SI units.
0-2 V DC Analogue Output
The VibWire-301 has two analogue output ports that scale the frequency signal and temperature into a analogue output signal User scale-able in the range of 0 - 2 V DC. These outputs can be used by analogue data acquisition system.
The output range can be configured for Hz, DIGITS and Engineering Units.
VibWire-301 Digital Communications
RS485 Communications
The VibWire-301 instruments can be connected to a Wi-Fi network using a RS485 to Wi-Fi Gateway.
Application Software
Free issue Q-LOG Windows Application Software can be used for Configuration, Test Measurements, Results display in Charts and Panel Meters, Data storage in CSV file format for easy analysis
Local Area Network Connection
The VibWire-301 can be easily connection to a Local Area Network (LAN) using a RS485 to Ethernet LAN Converter. The Q-LOG software supports a Virtual COMM port and this feature enables a Windows PC to talk to the instruments across a LAN
MODBUS Communications
MODBUS Operations
The VibWire 301 provides support for MODBUS network operations. The VibWire 301 operates exclusively as slave units and can communicate to suitable controllers and SCADA systems that support the MODBUS Protocol. The VibWire sensors boast support for both 16 and 32-bit registers, ensuring reliable and accurate communication of data.
For seamless integration with PC-based systems, the VibWire 301 offers an optional USB-485-Pro media converter. This device not only facilitates data transmission for MODBUS and standard RS485 network communications, but also supplies power to the chemical sensor and ensures correct timing protocols.
