Installation

Connect the NP-2-24-THERM-X-SD85 card as close as is practically possible to the input signal source  in order to minimise electrical noise. Strip the signal and network cable sheaths away from the central wire copper core exposing 3 mm of the metal wire. Open the wire clamp on the pluggable terminal blocks. Secure the network cables into the terminal block and fit onto the network port (A), as shown below.

Keynes Controls manufactures a range of signal condition cards that can be used for a wide range of applications. The cards can be used to monitor a range of different type of temperature sensors such as thermistors, PT-100, PT-500 etc.. as well as a full range of thermocouples.

All of the Keynes signal conditioning cards are offered with free Windows QLOG software. The QLOG software enables the user to test out the cards prior to installation onto thier own hardware such as a data logger.

Network Operation

The NP-2-24-Therm cards support both SDI12 and RS485 network operations. The cards automatically detects the network onto which it has been connected. The NP-2-24-Therm cards support standard and enhanced addessing modes and are suitable for direct connection to many third party data loggers.

INSTALLATION

The NP-2-24-Therm card is simple to install and use . It is supplied with spring loaded terminal blocks so no soldering is required to install a sensor. Simple open the port with a screw driver and insert the sensor wire. No soldering required. An optional waterproof enclsoure is available for site deployment.

Thermocouple - Temperature Measurements

The NP-1-STRAIN-24-SD45 card offers 24 bit resolution, low noise signal conditioning for strain gauges and strain gauge based load cells. The card supports full quadratic and linear configuration options for the strain gauge sensor, and full Steinhart-Hart calibration factors for the temperature sensors.  Enhanced addressing is available for this product.

In these pictures you can see the quarter bridge and half bridge sensor connection options. The temperature sensor can be extended to fit adjacent to the structure under investigation in order to provide local temperature compensation readings.

The NP-1-STRAIN-24-SD45 can be used with foil strain gauges, resistance based strain gauges, load cells, resistance based displacement sensors.

All of the NP-2-24-THERM-X-SD45 two channel thermocouple card can be connected to a RS485, or SDI12 digital networks and combined to create multiparameter solutions using the 8 channel expansion blocks.

The expansion block enables the individual cards, and other Keynes Controls interface cards to be combined to create a dedicated measurement solution.

The images opposite show the USB-SDI12-Pro media converter and expansion block.

Engineering Units

All of the Keynes Controls Sensor Signal Conditioning Cards supply raw and SI Unit output measurement values.

The use of industry standard aM! and aD! commands to start a measurement and report the measurement allows the cards to be used with many different 3rd party data loggers and acquisition systems.

For distributed applications the aC! concurrent commend is available to make measurements for all the sensors on a network.  a = Address on the network.

Sensor and Network Installation

Get your sensor and network installation done with ease. All of the signal conditioning cards use a 5-Way terminal clamp block for network signal connections, and a 6-Way terminal block for the sensor connections. The terminal blocks use spring loaded clamps to attach cabling so soldering is required. Only a small screw driver is required to attach the sensor and network cables.

All cards are supplied with a copy of the Q-LOG Data Acquisition and Display software.
