ARGES Type Sensor

The Intelligent Submersible pH Sensor by Keynes Controls, is a submersible sensor that has been designed to simplify the acquisition of water quality measurement parameters into any platform that supports data logging operations using digital network communications, and directly into a Windows PC using the optional USB-SDI12 interface.

The sensor can operate as part of a multiparameter system or as a stand-alone sensor on a digital network. The sensor returns results directly in pH (SI) units.

Each of the Intelligent Submersible pH Sensor by Keynes Controls is suitable for direct connection to industry standard SDI12 Data Recorder, RS485 and MODBUS networks. The instruments can communicate directly across a MODBUS network and can be integrated into plant wide SCADA applications.

For fast and easy measurements use the optional USB-SDI12-AGI interface and plug the sensor directly into a Windows PC

ISOLATION

The sensor element of the ARGES pH sensor electrodes are isolated in order to optimise the life of the electrodes.

When no measurement is being made the sensor is in its lowest power mode.

Measurement Integrity

All of the ARGEs sensor range have the serial numbers and the last calibration date stored internally. The user can access this information for reporting purposes.  The sensors can be redeployed at any time with the calibration and serial number records are retained in the sensor.

Calibration Period

The Intelligent Submersible pH Sensor by Keynes Controls can be used within SONDE multi-parameter housing, or as a stand-alone sensor. The pH sensor should calibrated before use for optimum results. pH measurements can be effected by temperature so it is recommended to calibrate the sensor at, or around the temperature for which it is to be used.

Keynes offer a calibration kit for the pH sensor and this is available from the online store. The calibration kit covers the most common operating range of the sensor and covers three measurement points. One of the calibration points is taken using distilled water to give a reference of pH of 7 at 25 Degrees Celsius. Buffer solutions give the additional calibration points of approximately +9 and 3 pH from that of distilled water pH level.

pH Sensor Testing

The ARGES pH sensor can be used as stand-alone instrument and also within the Keynes multi-parameter SONDE housings as part of a multiparameter solution. The image below shows the multiparameter SONDE on test in with a pH sensor installed..

The ARGES pH sensor can be directly deployed into water ways and results recorded directly to a Windows PC using the USB-SDDI12-AG1 interface and the free QLOG applications osftware.

Storage and Handling

When not in use the ARGES pH sensor head should be kept hydrated with the protective cap attached.

Storage temperature range : 2 - 60 Degrees Celsius.

Built-in Communication Options

The ARGES pH sensor supports SDI-12, RS485 and MODBUS digital communications as standard enabling it to be directly connected to Data Logger for remote web based reporting, onto Wi-Fi and Local Area Networks using the RS485 option. The MODBUS and RS485 option are often used to connect sensors to a PLC Controller and Display Units,. The MODBUS protocol enables the sensors to be used directly by most SCADA applications software.

MODBUS Operations

ALL of the ARGES range of chemical sensors support MODBUS network operations The sensors act as a slave unit only and can communicate to suitable controllers and SCADA systems that support the MODBUS Protocol. The sensors support 16 and 32 bit registers.   .

The ARGES sensors can be connected to a PC based system using the optional USB-485-Pro media converter. This device can power the chemical sensor and supports the correct timing protocols for data transmission for MODBUS and standard RS485 network communications.

Multiparameter HOUSINGS

The ARGES pH Sensor by Keynes Controls can be used as a stand-alone device or as a part of a multiparameter solution. Keynes Controls currently manufacture 7 port and 3 port sensor housings.

Multiparameter Measurements

The ARGES chemical sensors by default take measurements sequentially and as such there will be no light pollution between sensors that can affect the results of adjacent fluorometers. Some of the filters for the different model sensors can operate at similar wavelengths and as such, a sensor monitoring for a specific chemical could effect the levels measured on a similar device.
