All of the Keynes Controls Vibrating Wire Sensor interfaces and analysers are full integrated into the QLOG Software.

The QLOG software givers the user the ability to configure, make real-time measurements, display and store results.

The vibrating wire sensor calibration factors are entered into a common easy to understand interface.

ARGES Chemical Sensor Range

The ARGES range of chemical sensors are fully integrated into the QLOG software. The SDI12 1.4 feature enables the SI Units for the sensors to be automatically assigned to the chart titles and SI Units in the measurement displays..  The real-time dual Y axis charts offer simple multiparameter analysis capability.

The QLOG sensor configuration operations enable full user control and calibration.

Real-time QLOG Results Windows

The QLOG software enables real-time measurements to be displayed in a series of charts and panel meters as shown below

There are 4 x Dual-parameter real-time charts available.

QLOG Dual Parameter real-time charts

Charts

2 x Independent measurement series using a common time stamp.  - Plot Vibrating wire measurements with temperature to observe real-time temperature effects - See the effect of increased Turbidity on Tryptophan measurements.

Live and historic measurement analysis. Use the time base setting to select measurements over a fixed time period and the window sliders to see historic values. Up to 1 million points can be used in a chart allowing the user to examine long periods of historic values.

Time Base Settings

The X-axis time base setting is in minutes, hours, days and weeks.

Vibrating Wire crack meter readings using QLOG

The QLOG software support a range panel meter displays that can be used to group measurements into easy to understand displays.

When using a SDI12 1.4 compliant sensor then the engineering units and sensor titles are automatically assigned.

Multiparameter Results

The panel meters in QLOG can display measurements from any sensor interface on a common network.

Download our Q-Log Software

Our Q-LOG software runs on the widely recognised Windows Operating system, you have the ability to calibrate, adjust instrument network address, and effortlessly display measurements on a series of panel meters and charts. Conveniently store results in text based files for quick analysis in spreadsheets.

Simple Device Interaction

USB Media Converters

The simplest way in which the sensor interfaces can be used is by connection to a Windows PC using one of the Keynes manufactured USB media converters. Currently two network types are supported, SDI12 for low power small scale applications, and the RS485 for larger channel count applications.

The USB Media converters can power the the sensor interfaces directly from a USB port without the use of an external power supply. For larger scale applications an external power supply can be fitted to the media converter.

SDI12 Network  1.4 Support

The USB-SDI12-Pro media converter enables SDI12 protocol sensors to be directly connected to a Windows PC.

There are various models of the USB SDI12 media converter manufactured by Keynes Controls. All models use Microsoft accredited drivers that automatically install so long as an Internet connection is available.

The USB to SDI12 media converters can power sensors directly from a PC USB port without any requirement for external power.

.

RS485 Network

The USB-485-Pro media converter are used to connect RS485 based intelligent sensors and interfaces directly to a Windows PC.

The RS485 network supports a  large number of sensors that can be connected together on a network compared to SDI12.

Any intelligent sensor supporting the SDI12 command protocol  can be used with Q-LOG.

QLOG supports the standard and enhanced  RS485 sensor addressing.

Multiple copies of Q-LOG supporting additional media converters can operate simultaneously so long as any measurements are stored to different directories.

RS485 to Wi-Fi / LAN Connection

Q-LOG Supports a virtual COMM Port facility to access RS485 based measurements connected to a Windows PC across a Wi-Fi or local area network. As far as Q-LOG data processing is concerned the measurements are handled as it they have been taken using a USB media converter,

There are many different RS485 to Wi-Fi and RS485 to LAN converters available. Q-LOG requires the IP address of the router from the network measurements are connected.

Q-LOG Application
Q-LOG Software Application

The Q-LOG software can be used with 3rd party sensors and interfaces so long as they support the SDI12 industry standard command set.

Configuration

Q-LOG is setup using a series of XML file format configuration files.  The software is supplied with all of the Keynes Controls sensors and interface configuration files and these can be used as a template to add additional 3rd party sensors.

Keynes Controls do not offer free technical support for 3rd party additions but the example files demonstrate how additional sensors can be integrated into the software,

Configuration files Summary

Q-LOG uses a main configuration which is the Device Association File that lists all of the devices that the Q-LOG software supports. It also has the menu tiles that appear with the sensors as the software is used.

Device Association File Name  -  devassoc.xml

Individual Sensor Interface Configuration Files

Each sensor interface that is supported by Q-LOG has its own unique configuration file

The Sensor Configuration File is where the

  1.   Product Identifier String
  2.   Assign the commands to read internal configuration setting for display into device setup tab
  3.   Set the Start Measurement and Get Measurement Commands
  4.   Set the device start-up period  - allow a sensor to initiate correctly before taking a measurement
  5.  Assign the text menu items that appear next to a measurements on the results screen.
